At age 12 I began to sail, we did racing/regatas with some 80 children, each in their own boat. I did not know then that this course that I signed up for would then lead me for the rest of my life.
I kept at it, teaching catamaran while studying biology at university. At the end of my degree, with more time, I pursued it futher. Crossing the Atlantic, the Strait of Magellan and the south of Chile, with larger ships ...
But not just what you do, but who you do it with. I have spent many happy moments with new people as I have been sailing, and some of which have emerged as friendships beyond that experience.
For me the boat is a tool to arrive to special lands, moreover the immense blue infront and around allows us to disconnect from the hundreds of daily stimuli that we have in the city. In ways there is less to a boat, but it can give us so much more, with time it gives unhurried conversation, we cook, take a land excursion, fish, watch the moon, enjoy the silence ...
There it is, within our reach, I want to go out and live it all again in your company.
* I will not be always the skipper..
